The Pacific Marine Circle Route is now complete. The section of the road from Port Renfrew to Lake Cowichan has recently been paved. This is a good option if you are travelling from or to Duncan, Nanaimo or Victoria.

Port Renfrew is 107 km (67miles) west of Victoria along the Coast on Highway 14, about 2 hours driving time.


Soule Creek Adventure Lodge

From Swartz Bay Ferries: 

Take Hwy 17 towards Victoria. Stay in the right hand lane. You will see a sign for Hwy.1 Nanaimo. Take this exit. It will put you on the Trans Canada Hwy.1.

Travel down this route and look for a sign that says Hwy.14 to Sooke and Port Renfrew (Exit 14). You know you are on the right road when you pass by the "Super Store". Past the Superstore turn RIGHT at Sooke Rd.

About 40-50 minutes from here you will be in Sooke. About another hour from Sooke is Port Renfrew.

Once in Port Renfrew you will pass by the General Store. 1/2 km pass the store you should see our sign on the left (the road is Powder Main) turn onto this road which quickly turns to hard packed gravel. We are 2km up the road and the only house on the road.

From downtown Victoria:

Get on Douglas St. This will lead you into Trans Canada Hwy 1 towards Nanaimo. Look for Hwy #14 - Sooke and Port Renfrew sign. Once in Port Renfrew you will pass by the General Store. 1/2 km pass the store you should see our sign on the left (the road is Powder Main) turn onto this road which quickly turns to gravel. We are 2km up (600ft in elevation) the road and the only house on the road.

From Nanaimo & Departure Bay Ferry:

Drive south on the Trans Canada Hwy. 1 towards Duncan and Victoria. Turn Right on Cowichan Valley Hwy. 18 to Lake Cowichan (Skutz Falls is a nice place for a short detour). Hwy. 18 ends at a fork in the road with Youbou Rd. on the right and South Shore Rd to the left. Take South Shore Road. The info centre in Lake Cowichan is quite good. Continue on South Shore Rd. to Mesachie Lake. Just pass Mesachie Lake turn left onto Robertson Rd. towards Port Renfrew along the Pacific Marine Circle Route.

Stop at the Harris Creek Spruce on the way which is just off the road. Once in Port Renfrew turn right at the info/community center and look for our signs passed the General Store.

Note: Our sign is not lit up at night so if you pass the "Coastal Kitchen Cafe" You have gone too far. Cyclist and motorcycles please be advised there are steep inclines and 2km of gravel before you reach the Lodge.

We can arrange for pickup and transportation from Port Renfrew to the lodge, and to the Trailhead.  The beaches are only a 5-10 minute drive away from the lodge. Guests staying for 5 days or more receive complimentary transport to and from their respective airports.
  The Pacific Marine Circle Route: The new Circle Route allows travellers to drive from Victoria, to Sooke to Jordan River to Port Renfrew to Lake Cowichan (the road between Port Renfrew and Lake Cowichan has been recently paved) to Duncan. From Duncan you can travel back down to Victoria or go north to Nanaimo and Tofino.
